Hilla Shapira

Hilla Shapira is a costume designer and multidisciplinary artist originally from Tel Aviv, Israel, who is currently based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work explores the relationship between common design and body regimen, and questions design norms and the political aspects of everyday objects.

Shapira has designed costumes for various performances and festivals in Israel, Europe, and the USA, including the Brooklyn Ballet (Brooklyn, NY), José Limón Dance (NY, NY), Yasmeen Godder Company (Tel Aviv, Israel), Inbal Theater (Tel Aviv, Israel), Hazira Festival (Jerusalem, Israel), Mekudeshet Festival (Jerusalem, Israel), and Israel Festival (Jerusalem, Israel).  Since 2018 she has collaborated with Yasmeen Godder Company as a costume designer for Demonstrate Restraint and Practicing Empathy #1.
